Taste Community Restaurant, Fort Worth’s nonprofit restaurant, has earned a place on Yelp’s 2021 Top 100 Places to Eat in Texas!
According to the National Restaurant Association, there are nearly 50,000 restaurants across the great state of Texas, but Yelp has narrowed down the top 100 places to eat. And, coming in at #78 is Fort Worth’s nonprofit pay-what-you-can restaurant: Taste Community Restaurant.
“We are honored to be listed again on Yelp’s Top 100,” says Jeff Williams, Founder and Executive Director of Taste Project. “We hope this recognition allows us to serve even more people and share God’s love even more!”
“Don’t mess with Texas, especially when it comes to food,” says Brenae Leary, Sr. Communications Manager at Yelp. “This year’s list is the culmination of the diverse cuisines available in the second largest state in the US, a list of eateries filled with something for every taste and budget.” Read more at yelp.com.
Taste Community Restaurant is the first project of the Taste Project organization designed to help feed, educate, and serve Tarrant County’s food insecure population, a total of 13.9 percent of Tarrant County’s overall community (Feeding America).
Taste’s solution is a fresh and healthy pay-what-you-can restaurant where everyone in the community, regardless of financial means, can enjoy a healthy, high quality meal. The menu has no prices. Guests are simply asked to:
- Pay what you can afford;
- Pay what you would typically pay; or
- Pay what you would typically pay, plus a little extra to help a neighbor in need.
“I love everything about this place!!! Your team gets how humanity is supposed to work, and I love being part of this movement.” Valerie, Taste Community Restaurant Guest and Yelper.
“It’s a great philanthropy with amazing food! I went for brunch on Saturday and I could see a mix of diners which I thought was great as it’s proof their concept really delivers on their mission.” – Mia, Taste Community Restaurant Guest and Yelper.
