Our new spring menu is now available at Taste Community Restaurant! With more produce than ever before, this menu is marked by its lighter, fresher fare. Dishes include Spring Hash and Eggs, Potato Leek Soup, Strawberry Salad, Niçoise Salad, Spring Fattoush, Pasta Primavera, and many other new selections.
While seasonal menus are not a new concept in Fort Worth, this one is uniquely designed to bring our community together—even when we are socially distant. “This season’s menu is both healthy and hearty,” says Chef Jeff Williams, Founder and Executive Director of Taste Project. “We don’t exist to just serve food, but to serve people. And I hope this Spring’s menu provides something for Fort Worth Foodies; while also remembering it may be the only meal some of our neighbors eat all day.”
Our first project, Taste Community Restaurant, is a fresh and healthy pay-what-you-can restaurant where everyone in the community, regardless of financial means, can enjoy a healthy, high quality meal, made from seasonal ingredients. The menu has no prices. Guests are asked to:
- Pay what you can afford;
- Pay what you would typically pay; or
- Pay what you would typically pay, plus a little extra to help a neighbor in need.
Nearly 85,000 people have dined at Taste Community Restaurant since its opening in 2017. And in the COVID-19 pandemic, 76% of those who dine with us receive a free or subsidized meal–which is more than our pay-what-you-can model was intended for. But thanks in part to additional funding from the Amon G. Carter Foundation in 2021, we can continue to keep our community fed.
“The Carter Foundation remains aware of the significant food insecurity issue,” said John H Robinson, Executive Vice President of the Amon G. Carter Foundation. “And we commend the commitment of Taste Project to continue helping, feeding, educating, and serving Tarrant County residents during the pandemic.”
You can help too! We encourage all Fort Worth and surrounding area residents to come be a part of building community through Taste Community Restaurant. Breakfast and lunch are served Tuesday thru Friday from 9:00am – 2:00pm; and brunch is served Saturday and Sunday from 10:00am – 2:00pm.
Volunteer opportunities exist Tuesday thru Sunday in various 3-hour shifts starting as early as 8:00am with our last shift from 12:00pm – 3:00pm.
